Oral Cancer Screening
Oral Cancer Screening
We have a genuine concern for your overall health and well-being. It’s because of this that we Legacy Family Dental invests in state-of-the-art oral cancer screening technology to ensure your health for life. If our dentists see unusual tissue in your mouth, a biopsy can be done right in our office. No need to go elsewhere.
Did you know that in the United States, one person dies every hour from oral cancer? Oral cancer has a cure rate of more than 80% —if it is detected and treated early. The mortality rates are high because diagnoses come too late. Very few patients are properly screened by their dentists.
At our practice, we perform an oral cancer screening with every exam. We utilize advanced cancer screening technologies so we can detect problems early on. Five minutes could save your health and your life.

According to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, there is an 80%-90% survival rate when oral cancers are found at early stages of development. When you come in for a basic cleaning appointment (or even an emergency dental visit) we will also perform an oral exam to look for any pre-cancer or cancerous growths. If you come in regularly for 6-month cleaning and checkup, it will help you reduce aggressive oral surgeries. Preventive care is part of the Total Health Approach where we provide quality care and health tracking to all patient families who trust our practice for all their oral care needs. This is especially in the case of screening for oral cancer.
