CAD/CAM stands for Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing. This technology allows the dentist to use an intraoral scanner inside the mouth. These digital scans of your tooth are used by special software to generate a CAD image for a custom crown. These custom blueprints and guidelines are used to manufacture the new crown (CAM) with a milling machine.
